Action Packed Race 2

Second race of the season opening weekend was driven in wet and very cold conditions in Sunday. In Sunday morning jury of the race decided to put together Super Touring and GT3 Nordic starts. At the same time this meant that GT3 cars are forced to made standing start.

"In our opinion this is absolutely good decision. Spectators will get more action when fast GT cars making their way among with Super Touring cars. Also the standing start is our benefit against Dodge Viper" Nurminen and Vanhanen said.

This time it was Jorma's turn to start the race and he did it very well. Vanhanen's Porsche led the field when cars turning towards to farthest part of circuit. Unfortunatelly slippery surface surprised leading cars there and after slight contact with Sepp's Dodge Viper Jorma spun out of the circuit and damaged rear end of the Porsche.

"Luckily Jorma managed to keep engine running and made fast recovery. Rear bumber and exhaust are damaged but fortunatelly not too badly" Niko commented.

Due to spun Westend Racing's squad dropped to third position in the GT3 Nordic class. Despite of damages Jorma Vanhanen manage to bring the car to pitlane for drivers change. Pitstop went like planned and thus Niko's only task was drive to finish and secure another podium position of the weekend.

"Pretty ok performance in these circumstances. Weather was difficult all race long and we suffered heavy understeering" Niko said.

Ahvenisto's race offered good practice for Westend Racing which is aiming next to Europe. At the beginning of July Finnish team will participate to four hours VLN race at Nürburgring Nordschleife.
