05.05.2008 Niko to race with Porsche 997 GT3 After gaining a huge experience of endurance races with front wheel drive cars, Niko is stepping forward by joining Finnish based Porsche team Westend Racing. Team, familiar from Scandinavian Porsche Carrera Cup, has now finish mostly of update work for its Porsche 997 GT3 race car and is heading to international endurance races in popular GT3 category. During the season Niko will share the car together with its owner Jorma Vanhanen. After couple of season's in cup level, team is aiming now to endurance scene in Europe and expecting to get boost by hiring a Niko. " I'm more than keen about this campaign. Team is small, but very ambitious and well equipped. Jorma has a lot of experience of Porsche and I know him as a accurate driver. When this all comes together with my experience out of long distance races, we might have good changes to make some surprises" Niko says. At the moment team is busy with it's intensive testing program while preparing first race of the season. First round of Nordic GT3 Championship in 17th and 18th of May in Ahvenisto Circuit in Finland will be Niko's only outing in his home country. After this race team is aiming only European races like Belgian GT Championship and VLN in fabulous Nürburgring Nordschleife. " I really look forward to getting back to Ring with this quick Porsche.
